About Arne Maasik

Arne Maasik is a photographer and artist with an education in architecture. His career as an artist started in 1995 along with a new generation of artists at the ambitious Saaremaa Biennial that took place at the Kuressaare Castle.

Arne Maasik is one of the architectural photographers most in demand in Estonia. He has participated in long-term projects involving large-scale research and had numerous solo exhibitions in Tallinn, Helsinki, Rome, Venice, Berlin, Moscow and elsewhere.

Arne Maasik’s work is characterised by an awareness of metaphysical undercurrents and muted poetry. As an artist his focus is on metropolises as well as their outskirts, old houses and the underbrush, as well as other peripheral living environment that become animated and come alive on his photos.
